【Sing Tao Daily】Data Analysis Platform "ShinyTAM": Empowering Teachers to Leverage Assessment for Enhanced Teaching

Assessment is an indispensable and crucial part of the learning process. Through assessment data, teachers can understand the individual learning needs and differences of students, providing personalized learning support and timely feedback. This helps students adjust their learning methods and improve learning outcomes. Teachers can also use class-wide data to refine and enhance teaching strategies, thereby boosting overall teaching quality and students' academic performance.

Although teachers and other educators have recognized the importance of assessment and conduct various forms of evaluations (including classroom observations, exercises, homework, quizzes, and exams), they collect a vast amount of assessment data. However, burdened by heavy teaching and administrative responsibilities, they often lack the time to analyze this assessment data effectively. To address this, my research team has developed an interactive online data analysis tool called "ShinyTAM" using the Shiny framework in the R programming language for statistical computing. After teachers upload assessment data, they can quickly obtain analytical results, gaining insights into students' learning performance and the quality of assessment papers.
