In recent years, Hong Kong's birth rate has continued to decline, drawing widespread attention from all sectors of society. Understanding the challenges and needs faced by new mothers is crucial for establishing effective support systems, promoting parental adaptation, and fostering child development. This, in turn, can encourage childbirth and contribute significantly to the overall development of families and society.

For most first-time parents, the journey from pregnancy to the birth of their baby is an exciting and joyful experience. However, during the transition to parenthood and the early stages of a newborn's life, society and families often focus primarily on the baby, paying less attention to the needs of new mothers. During this critical phase, new mothers undergo both physical and psychological changes, including adapting to their new roles, learning the knowledge and skills required to care for their baby, and adjusting to shifts in interaction and division of labor with their spouse. Therefore, it is essential for first-time mothers to receive adequate support and preparation. Conversely, if they lack sufficient information and support, they may face greater difficulties in adaptation. These challenges could negatively impact their physical and mental health, parenting abilities, child development, and even the well-being of the entire family and society.
